The Bronze Tiger
The Bronze Tiger is actually older than the famous Silver Tiger. It is officially called the “SHAPE Air Deputy Award”. It was commissioned and first presented in 1965 by USAF General Robert E. Lee at a Tiger Meet held at Bitburg AB. It appears that from the start it was intended to be presented annually to the host squadron.Since then, the tradition has evolved that the previous host presents it to the current host. This 'trophy passing' usually takes place on the occasion of the first social event (like the welcome evening). The names on the trophy are the squadron commanders’ of the host sqdns.
