The 3rd Shipborne Helicopter Squadron of Naval Air Wing 5 (MFG 5) is a unit responsible for operating the Westland Sea Lynx Mk 88A helicopters on frigates and is primarily used in anti-submarine warfare. This squadron is part of Naval Air Wing 5, which is now stationed in Nordholz and is responsible for operating all helicopters of the German Navy.

3/MFG 5 participated for the first time in a NATO Tiger meet in 2024 and 2025 as external assets, during this last NTM, they ware accepted as probationary members.
